Export a logo with a transparent background
Put effects on a logo or cutout and export it with the empty parts of the frame left clear.
This is for logos, stickers, type and anything else you'll place over other footage later. You'll put effects on the art and export it with the background left see-through.
What you need
- Art with transparency: an SVG, a PNG with alpha, a 3D model, or a text layer.
- A format that can carry transparency: PNG still, PNG sequence, GIF loop or Copy PNG. MP4 can't carry it.
Steps
- Bring in your art. A 3D logo or an SVG works best. The frame around it is empty.
- Open Export and switch on Transparent background. The canvas shows a checkerboard wherever the frame will be clear.
- Add your effects. Most effects follow the art's shape on their own, so the checkerboard stays clear.
- Check the checkerboard. Anything that covers it will be in your export.
- Export a PNG still for one frame, or a PNG sequence for the loop.
Effects that print on paper
A few effects draw a whole new picture: a sheet of paper, a tube, a ground. They have settings for how they meet a clear frame.
| Effect | Setting | What to pick |
|---|---|---|
| Riso | Paper › Sheet | Shape cuts the paper to your art and lets slips and echoes spill past its edge. See-through drops the paper and keeps only the ink. |
| Light Leak | Film › Light | Over the art keeps the glow on your art. Light only gives you the light alone. |
| CRT | Bezel | The bezel stays solid like the TV it is, and the screen inside stays clear. Snow and RF noise light the whole tube, so turn Snow down to keep it clear. |
Night Vision, Thermal Print, Line Screen and Topo follow your art's shape on their own. Halftone, Separations and Dither do too, in every preset.
When something still fills the frame
- A generator or solid at the bottom. Generators like gradients fill the frame by design. Bypass them, or delete them, to keep only your art.
- An effect with its own light. Glows, snow, flicker and bloom are light, and light shows on a clear frame. Turn them down, or mask the effect: open its Mask tab and set Affects to Just the layer under it.
- A Riso layer on Paper. Set its Sheet to Shape or See-through.
