Bring layers in and out with transitions

Wipe, iris, dissolve or slide a picture in and out of the loop, and choose when it shows.

Every picture layer (image, video, generator, 3D logo and 3D text) has a Transition section on the Motion tab of Tune. It sets how the layer arrives, how it leaves, and when it's on screen. Text layers have their own build in and out, set in their own Timing section.

Bring a picture in

  1. Select the picture layer.
  2. In Transition, choose an In. Its light comes on.
  3. Set In length, and the Direction for styles that travel.

The layer arrives at the start of every loop. Whatever is under it shows through until it's in.

Send it out

Choose an Out. It plays at the end of the loop, so a layer can arrive, stay and leave inside one loop. A wipe leaves in the direction it came in.

Show a layer for part of the loop

Move Start and End. Outside them the layer is hidden, so two pictures can take turns: give the second one a Start where the first one ends.

The styles

  • Fade dissolves evenly.
  • Wipe sweeps across in the Direction you set.
  • Iris opens a circle from the center point.
  • Blinds opens in strips. Count sets how many.
  • Blocks arrives square by square, in random order.
  • Dissolve spreads in through soft, uneven shapes.
  • Burn eats through like flame. Raise Edge glow for a hot rim.
  • Clock sweeps round the center like a hand.
  • Doors opens from the middle outward.
  • Checker fills a checkerboard, half the squares first.
  • Slide moves the whole picture in from off the frame, and out the other side.
  • Ripple opens in rings from the center point.
  • Interlace draws every other line first, like a tube warming up.
  • Glitch drops in band by band, out of order.

The other controls

  • Ease shapes the motion. Smooth eases both ends, Linear is constant, Snap starts fast and settles, Gentle is softest.
  • Softness blurs the moving edge.
  • Edge glow and Edge color light the edge as it moves.
  • Center X and Center Y place the middle for Iris, Clock and Ripple.
