Glossary
What NANALOG calls things. The same words appear in the studio, the docs and the changelog.
The work
| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Layer | One thing in the stack. Pictures (image, video, 3D, generators, text) and effects are both layers. |
| Effect | One unit that changes what's under it, like Film, CRT or Riso. |
| Look | A saved stack of effects. |
| Preset | Saved settings for one effect. |
| Original | An effect written from a prompt with ✦ Generate effect. |
| Loop | The project's length. Everything that moves comes back to where it started when the loop does. |
| Blend | How a layer meets what's under it: Normal, Screen, Add and others. |
The studio
| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Layers | The left panel. Your stack, bottom to top. |
| Effects | The panel that lists every effect by group. Hover to preview, click to add. |
| Tune | The right panel, where the selected layer's controls live. |
| Looks bar | The row of pads along the bottom. Each pad is a look. |
| Transport | Play, the time readout, the loop length and the timeline, under the canvas. |
| Preview / X-Ray | Two ways to see the stack: the finished picture, or every layer pulled apart in space. |
| ✦ Generate | Anything a model makes for you: a picture, a video, an effect. |
| ✦ Mix | Builds a look from your words or a reference picture. |
The faceplate
| Word | Meaning |
|---|---|

| Readout | Text on a screen, in amber, mono and uppercase. |
| Section | A named group of controls with a light, dice, a reset and a lock. |
| Knob | Drag up and down to turn it. The hero knob is the big one. |

| Pulse button | Fires once and falls back, like Flash or Jam. It can be recorded. |
